My husband has had an irritated red ring around his mouth for over a year now. We have tried everything - to no avail. He has been to the doctor, I have researched as much as I can, and we have tried numerous creams, ointments, etc. When surfing the net for answers it appears this is quite a widespread problem with very little success. Please advise me what to do. Appreciate you!

Have you tried anti-fungal ointment? (Ringworm - not a worm)
It isn't fair to say you have tried everything, making us guess.

Did the doctor take a scraping of the area and view it under a microscope?

I'll say it again - why are you making us play 20 questions? TELL US WHAT HE HAS TRIED. Does he smoke, have allergies? Sounds like an allergy to me, which could be anything, even something you have on your face when he kisses you, or food, or plastic cups, or pens he chews on, or something after which he touches his mouth... infinite things. Even nutritional deficiency!
