    Married both f-1 student
    Hi,
I’m on f1 student visa, my wife also is on f1 student visa and we have a baby, we are from Jordan,we both have scholarship from the same school, this is our 3rd year in the US.

1)which forms do we have to use for Taxes?

2)can we file as jointly married or do we have to file separately ?can we claim our baby as Dependent or not?

3)how much can we claim for standard deductions and Exemption deduction?

    Thanks.

See an answer I gave several times to several immigrants yesterday to a post entitled "Dual Status Confusion." That should get you on your way.

    1) You will EACH have to file Form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ, plus whatever state tax forms.

    2) As non-resident aliens, you cannot file jointly. Also, you probably cannot claim your child as a dependent.

    3) You do NOT get the standard deduction.; the personal exemption is $3,300.
