Hi: My house is 2 years old and I'm planning to install a bathroom in the basement, the rough in pluming is already in place it was designed to put a bath tub, the 2" pipe is very close to the wall, I dont want a bath tub instead I would like to put a closed in shower kit, where the drain pipe is the the middle of it, how can extend the 2" pipe that is located close to the wall to the middle of the concrete floor, would I have to break the basemet floor to run it and where would I install the trap (is it necessary to have?) Any suggestion or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

With the information and questions you present, yes, you absolutley MUST break up the concrete floor and relocate the 2" drain pipe and install a 2" PTRAP directly under the center drain of the new shower.

Another option that may be helpful here (i.e. save time/money.. :)) would be to keep the drain pipe where it is and use a special shower drain pan that has a footprint exactly like a tub with the drain pipe located at the end... see image below. These are usually 30" wide x 60" long.

Otherwise, you're breaking up the floor...
