    Ask immigration question free online
    Hi,

I have an question regarding the immigration status. I lived for around 6 years (2002-end 2007) in U.S during this time in U.S I have been equipped with those documents: social security number (SSN), I-94 with refugee status on it, ID card, DL, and in end with Travel Document, also during this time (6 years) I worked and paid taxes to the state. After 6 years I decited to return back home and never went back in U.S.
    My questions are:
1.Is it any way to renew the travel document from outside of U.S ?
2.if not, then what about the taxes that I have paid to the state is it anyway to do claim for tax return ?

    Thank you

You lived and worked in the USA, so you don't get a refund on taxes you paid while working. If you are just a visitor, and had paid taxes on gifts you were taking back, then you could recoup that expense.

You renew your travel documents, if you want to return or visit USA, the same way you initiated them in the first place, through your own government.

You will, however, always have your USA SIN no.

Thank you very much for responding to my question even through I'm still confusion about renewing the refugee travel document .
My refugee travel document has been expired 4 years ago and I'm out of U.S so to renew the refugee travel document I should apply at INS or U.S embassy.

I think you should apply at the US Embassy. They will have your records.

. Hi, you guys have been very helpfully to me regarding the questions that I have made... And I will follow your suggestions... Just for information this is what Ins have send to me on 2009...
On August 7, 2009, the post office returned the notice we last sent you on this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS as undeliverable. This may have serious effects on processing this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update your mailing address for this notice to be re-sent... Do you guys think that is better to go at embassy or shoul I give to ins any new relatives address in USA...
