Does a broken brass clip effect a single lever bath tub faucet

The cold water line is continuously trickling water in my delta single lever bath tub faucet what is wrong with it?

Is this a brass clip on a Moen valve? Sure a broken part can cause a leak, the clip is likely what holds the cartrdige fully in place.

What brass clip? Curious as to exactly what you refer to here as a brass clip is not common to Delta, but is to Moen..

Either way, if your cold water is dripping then most likely the CUP WASHER and spring under the delta cartridge need to be replaced. This is usually a pretty simple job if you know how to disassemble the valve... ;)
