Can my landlord terminate my lease due to an altercation that accured just one time?I have a year lease never had any warnings or notice to comply or vacate.about a week after the incident I got a letter on my dore that says that management has been forced to end the agreement and to advise them of a move out date.I was eager to sign the agreement when I moved in so I wouldn't have to worry about unfair landlord practices only to have this accure.What rights do I have under Fl.law as a tenent in a rental agreement for a year ?And can I even be evicted for a single incident and if so how long do I have legally.What are some steps I can take to be sure that I am not wrongfully evicted?

You might want to go into more detail about the altercation. Was it with the landlord , one of their agents.. with a neighbor? Was it a bar fight far from your property involving nobody in your place, neighorhood or property owner/manager..

Until we know more details... then the answer is yes.. they might be able to terminate it on one offence... but the details you left out will let us know a lot more in how it related to the Lease.

As noted, its certainly possible that one incident could violate your lease and allow them to terminate it.

On the other hand, before they can get an eviction order, they have to go to court and this means a hearing. So you could plead your case at the hearing that this incident should not terminate the lease. Of course, if you lose you will have only a few days to vacate.

In Florida the law states that, in the event of a violation of the lease terms by the tenant, the tenant shall be given a written notice giving them 7 days to cure the violation. If they fail to cure the violation within those 7 days then the landlord may terminate the lease. However if the violation is of a type that the tenant "should not be given an opportunity to cure", such as "destruction, damage or misuse of landlord's or other tenants' property", then the landlord may terminate the lease and give the tenant 7 days to move out.

Did your altercation violate any Florida law? Were the police involved or called?
