    2001 grand am not starting
I have a 2001 pontiac grand am. It turns over but doesn't start. Already tried to reset passkey but did not work. It will run if I spray little starting fluid but doesn't stay running. How do I check to see if it is the fuel pump?

    1. Check for any codes, using a scan tool.
    2. Make sure the platinum plugs don't have more than 50,000 miles on them. Use only the ACDelco plugs that came in the car.
    3. Check/replace the igniter:

    4. Check/replace the coil:

    5. When you turn the ignition to ON, you should be able to hear the fuel pump, in the gas tank, run for several seconds and then cut off. It's not likely your fuel pump is the cause of the problem. 90% of the time problems like this are electrical-related, not fuel.

My bet is you have the V6 engine and the platinum plugs need changing. Most people procrastinate replacing the plugs, because of the difficulty in reaching those in the rear.
