What do I do with the nysdi info on my W2?
I have a small amount listed as NYSDI on my W2. I understand this is NY State DIsability Insurance but I have no idea why it's on my W2. Is this a deduction I can take? Where do I put it on my IT-150 or IT-201 form when filling it out?
    Thanks!

It is not a deduction per se. It CAN be a part of the tax calculation under certain circumstances, but it likely does NOT affect your tax return.

    You can safely ignore it.

First off, answering in ALL CAPS denotes shouting, and is inappropriate.

Second, his question was WHERE to enter the amount listed on the Form IT-150 or IT-201. I answered that.

This, this post is OVER three years old? WHY for goodness sakes are you answering it NOW?

I also have the NYSDI on my W-2, but I live and work in Ohio!
The Company Headquarters are located in NY.

    Edonnye123:

Contact your company and ask them to STOP withholding the NYSDI. You are NOT;legally liable to pay that tax because you neither LIVE nor WORK in New York state. New York state has NO legal standing to collect ANY taxes or fees from your pay.

THEN ask for a full refund of all past NYSDI withheld. It is THEIR job to know you were not liable for the NYSDI, so it is THEIR job to fix it.

    Hi,
I am an international student studying and working in NYC. I work on campus. Am I supposed to pay NYSDI tax too? Some where I read, Non-resident aliens are not required to pay this as NYSDI don't cover their future disabilities. I will really appreciate if you can explain me this.

    Thanks in advance.

A logical argument could be made that you are NOT subject to NTSDI due to your NRA status, but each state is different.

Ask your employer to look into it. A phone call or email to the state tax department should get you an answer.
