    Oven Replacement
I recently bought an older house--but not that old--built in 1972.

I have just removed an oven that was wired with two wires hardwired to it. It was a smaller, drop-in style oven. It was on a 40AMP breaker. I'd like to replace it with a slide in oven.

What do I need to do in order wire this correctly? Any web-based resources that illustrate this well?

(Obviously, I'm very new to home wiring and a do it yourself-er that just learned plumbing basics, drywall basics, etc. all in the past month or so.)

I appreciate any and all help on this.

    Thanks.

If the cable was metal sheathing with two #8 wires, then this cable should be fine, as long as the new oven does not need a neutral, as many of the new do. Best to check the specs of the new oven, and let us know what type of cable you have, and we can go from there.
