    It's not only allowed, many times it's required.

    If the return is filed through a tax professional, and if the tax return CAN be efiled, it MUST be efiled. That has been the case since the 2010 tax season.

    However, there is a waiver process that allows the filing of paper returns if the taxpayer does not want to send the return electronically.

    Further, if the taxpayer is filing by himself, he can file by paper or electronically, whichever he prefers.

    All the previous answers were written assuming the OP was asking about filng a US income tax return, as this forum is dedicated to US tax questions. If this is question was really about India or some other country - you'll have to check local tax rules.
