Your doctor should discuss the meaning of the scan with you. It sounds like a 'wait and see' situation for now. But you don't say what treatment you are getting from this doctor, if any, for irregular periods. Or if you are trying to get pregnant, or just want regular periods. Were birth control pills suggested to give you regular cycles?

I would guess that the pills are basically vitamins (notably folic acid)?
I would go see a GYN because of the many months you have gone without a period. There can be many reasons for that. One of the simplest is lack of contact with other menstruating women, believe it or not. I have a friend who was my roommate and she had her own bathroom, and when her periods stopped (in her 30s) her doctor suggested that she share our bathroom, and her periods resumed. I think it actually has to do with smell, whether we are aware of it or not. Studies of women who live in dorms at schools show that their periods tend to eventually all happen at the same time.
