    Beam Size
    First floor of home 21 X 24
Ceiling constructed of 2X6X24 at 16” centers. Attic space above, hip roof. Planning on removing load bearing wall in middle of first floor and replacing with beam perpendicular to the joist
My question is what size beam I would use to support ceiling without a post mid-span, the proposed beam length is 22 Feet

    Any suggestions are welcomed

I got 2 x 12s (triple I think) for that span hem-fir on a beam calculator, but what is going to be supporting the load from the posts down to the floor and then down to what's below?

I am running 4 X 4 on both ends of the beam going through the floor and setting on the top of the foundation wall

    thanks again
