    Website Account
I created an account on a dating site and it seems there is no way to delete the profile that was created. The site is not what was expected and has only other profiles that are of persons not in the United States. They have a very strange terms of service that seems to bind you to the service. There is also no apparent way to contact the persons that setup the site. Does anybody have a suggestion?

This is common for most sites. We have the same policy here. Once you join, there is no way to delete your information, or any posts unless they violate our rules, in which case those posts will be removed, but not your profile.

When people join this site and no longer want to be a member, we advise that they stop using the site, ignore any emails from the site, and simply slip into oblivion. If you don't post, your profile will quickly go to the bottom of the list, and most people don't look at the bottom of the list.

This is a case of buyer beware. You should have read the terms of service before joining that site.

What do you think would happen if the email address used as part of the signup would go away or be deleted? Wouldn't that sort of severe the link to the website?

You wouldn't get emails from the site, but your profile would still be up. Your profile is not reliant on your email address, but if you're receiving emails from potential suitors on that site, then yes, changing your email would put an end to that.

Are you being charged money for the site ?

While you can't remove your profile, you may be able to edit it. So you replace what you put with blanks or Xes. You might even be able to change the e-mail address. You can try a phony address or create a new free one and use that, then just never check the mailbox.

Other than that, Alty is right, this is not uncommon.

No there is no charge but I think there is some kind of service connected to it that would involve an itinerary for travel or paying to meet a person.
