    This is for TXGreaseMonkey.

How do you Access the engine codes to read out a code so that I can look up the code online. You see my honda has been doing almost the same as that other honda Dx and my mechanic does not have a OBD to diagnose a honda that old. Can you help please?

Pull back the passenger side carpet on the firewall at the top under the glovebox.. you will see a plastic access hole on a panel over the ECU... you look to see the sequence of flashes on the red led. As in how many long and how man short flashes.

Pay close... really close attention to it... there should be some pattern to it... a momentary break at some point. Or you see a slight difference in the length of the flashes... its going to be obvious if you are looking for them.

Or is it like a flash... flash... flash... flash... flash... if that makes some sense. Watch it a couple minutes and pay notice if there is a pause in the flash routine.

it is very possible for the flashes to be a uniform length... this is how you get the codes from counting the flashes... they will cycle and may have multiple ones... ergo why to count through several cycles.

Here is a good explanation of the ODB0 codes... didn't see something here in the stickies right now.

    I've Got a 1989 Civic Myself with a 1991 ODB0 engine in it... ( I know because I pulled it myself).

ODB1 should have started with the 1992 model year.
