Back in the 90's there was an animated movie I saw as a kid. It was very Halloween centric. It had a female protagonist and there was also a black cat. There was also a witch trying to kill the girl.
The only scene I remember is one where the girl is walking at night then everything goes pitch black. There is a loud cat screaching scaring the girl. It is then seen that the cat prevented the girl from walking off a cliff saving her life and that the dark was caused by the witch.
