Hello I been in Maryland doing my internship during 2012 and I do my taxes using TURBOTAX. I realized that they used the regular 1040 FORM, I just see now on internet that I should use the NR.


I was not aware about the situation and in TurboTax all appear to be fine, it could be this a problem?

It may if you do not fix it. You will need to amend the return using Form 1040X, and attach a properly-prepared Form 1040NR-EZ and Form 8843.

The state return probably does not need to be amended.

What if I get my tax return, what I will have to do?

I am under a j1 and stayed in the US more 183 days, and I leaving on April.

The difference between the two forms is substantial?
