We just bought a house and the owner's said they never could get the tub to seal so we took off the top and gasket and tried to unscrew the brass fitting in the middle of a round plastic housing of some sort. My husband used his largest screwdriver but the groove was so shallow it wouldn't stay in the grove (we used smaller screwdrivers to no avail). Does the plastic ring unscrew without removing the brass fitting? If not, any ideas on getting the brass fitting out? I'd sure like to take a long soak after all the work we've been doing. Thanks for any suggestions.
