Loud banging in my central heating system
I live in New England and just got over 2 feet of snow. Suddenly, my heating system started banging VERY loudly. I have no radiators, just forced hot air vents in my home. Any ideas why the banging has started? I just replaced my system last April, so it is fairly new.

Does it only bang when the main blower kicks on and off? If so, sounds like the ductwork is "popping". If so, this is common and won't hurt anything other than being a bit annoying. If you can located exactly where the bang is coming from you can reinforce that area of ductwork. Now if the banging isn't coming from the ductwork you best get a tech in there asap to check the system. Since the system is new, you should be able to call back the original installer and have them check things out. Should still be under installers and manufacturers warranty.
