I being charged with theft from my employer, in that I have items to my " friends" and they walked away with it but now I'm
Being charged too but I didn't physical take anything from the store what should I do am I looking at jail time I have never been in trouble with the law before

I was at work by myself I gave boxes of shoes to my "friends" and they walked away with it

Guess you shouldn't have given them the boxes before they paid for it. Since you are the employee, you are responsible. Hire an attorney.

So what I am to do, when I actually never walked away with the items and I was busy helping other customers in the store

I thought like any other customers they would try on the shoes n not just walk away with it

So why does your boss believe that you were complicit in this theft ?

Were you being watched and someone saw you give them the shoes which they then walked out with ?

How did your friends get caught ?

What did your friends tell the police ?

What does the criminal complaint say you did ?

I am sorry you "gave boxes to friends" and thought they were going to try them on. You had better come up with a better story than that for court.

We all know this is bull and you gave them the boxes, knowing they were going to walk out with them. And after the first one, you knew they did it, so you did not report their theft to the store or police.

And it happened many times from what it sounds like.
