This is a 50 year old thermostat. I need the specifications and information on how to test the unit. It was only used a few hours and put into storage.

That's way too old to have any information on it. Why not just get a new digital t-stat?

And it may even have a mercury tube!

As long as you do not break the tube it's okay.
