Wiring and outlet to red, black, white and ground
I am replacing an outlet on my kitchen island and it is wired with a red, black, white and ground wires. I did not check the original wiring before I disconnected it and now I can't remember which wire went where.

Do you still have the old receptacle? I bet the tab was broken off between the two brass screws.
If so then the red and black go each on a brass screw with the tab broken.
    White to silver.
    Ground to green.

    Are you in Canada?
