What do you do for a mother dog whining for puppies after they leave

How old were the puppies when they were taken away from her?

The age of the puppies is a huge factor. If they were too young she may be sensing that they still need her, or they haven't weaned off her properly and this could cause pain and discomfort for the mother dog. Has she been checked out by the vet after the delivery?
