    half equations
    OK OK well I've never used this before.. because well I didn't know it existed.
    and I'm in a bit of a muddle, you see I pretty much suck at chemistry so yeah HELP ME:(

    ATM IM DOING AN ASSIGNMENT CALLED "PORTABLE POWER"
    we have to talk about the reactivity of 3 metals to do with there E0 value
    we have to compare and contrastthese three metals

    I have chosen
    -copper
    - lead
    - and sodium

    for these metals we have to say:
    -whats oxidising and reducing
    - why ar ethey extracted the way they are
    - how much energy is required
    -which ones need the most and least energy and WHY.

    WELL FIRST OF ALL IT WOULD BE GREAT if someone would give me some half equations to do with these metals... and all the working of course

    and also anyof the above questions that can be answered... GO AHEAD please

    this assignment is due on friday(latest) the 23rd march
    and I would greatly appreciate any help that is given

    ;)

    You can find E0 values from any inorganic text book from a standard reduction (or oxidation) potential table. The ones I could find at a quick glance are below

    Na+(aq) +e- => Na (s) Eo = -2.71
    Cu2+ (aq) + 2e- => Cu(s) Eo = +0.34
    Cu+ (aq) + e- => Cu(s) Eo = +0.52
    Pb2+ (aq) + 2e- => Pb(s) Eo = -0.13
    PbSO4(s) + 2e- => Pb(s) + [SO4]2-(aq) Eo= -0.36

    These are all reductions as it is from a standard reduction table and the final product gains electrons. The Eo will tell you if it required energy or gave energy. You really need to be more specific in the oxidation number and starting product of the metal to get a better answer though this is a start.

    This is a large research project, unumber has given you a good start, but you need to go to the library or look around online for this information, nobody will be able to do your work for you :)
