Looks like you might have a problem.

    Which state, please?

What do you mean "the envy"?

And, finally, what is your question?

It would probably be titled in another state. Ask the DMV if they can check in other state databases.

Did you pay cash, check, or what?

Immediately contact your bank and tell them to stop payment on your check. It was a check, right? If you were foolish enough to pay a cash down payment, I hope you kissed it goodbye.

Edit: Oh. Upon re-reading your last post I see that you did pay cash. Sorry to learn that.

Hmmmm. Your situation is not good. You are in possession of tired property that you don't have a title to. These trailers were probably sold at auction so somebody had the title and it is probably the dealer where you bought it.

I would contact your DMV to see if they can help. They are the ones who license and control dealers. Perhaps the police would be willing to run the vin and see if they can get anything for you. Someone at some point may be looking to repo the trailer so at least try a few things before giving up.

You could also try your state representative.

Your best bet is to get the DMV to run the VIN or contact the manufacturer to see if they have a record.

Did you not get any paperwork, bill of sale, anything? I agree with AK, paying cash without seeing proof that the person you were paying to was entitled to sell was very foolish.
