OK.. I have a 89 honda civic hatchback.. at first my I had a timing problem.. it was off 180 degrees.. well then it wouldn't start because it was not getting spark.. so I replaced the whole distributer (the coil was probably bad) now it starts but has no power what so ever and goes to stall out when I put it in drive! What's wrong with it now!?

First of all, it is totally impossible for you to time that engine 180 degrees out. The distributor has an off-set eccentric on it. It will only go in and sit flush one way. Jump the two pin blue connector wires under glove box and set timing to red mark on crank. That is 15 degrees. The white mark is for tdc and is only used for timing belt replacement.

. When you replaced the distributor, did you install a new ICM?
. Have you installed new spark plugs recently?
. To properly time the engine, it must be at normal operating temperature and idling around 700 rpm.
. Check for any vacuum leaks, particularly on the MAP Sensor. Make sure this key sensor is working properly.
. Check for any codes.

Where is the map sensor located at?

Somewhat on the passenger side of the firewall, just to the right of the fuel filter.

OK.. and I just now realized something.. my car has a ecu.. which means I can pull up the carpet and watch how many times the little red light blinks.. that should tell me a problem.. I feel stupid... haha
