I have developed over the years 8 teams of "Power Rangers" Some have complete episodes, usually the first one. All have a synopsis, Images of the characters and profiles. I want to post my teams on a website or Facebook page for people to see, especially the production people, who would some day put them into production for TV. All have a copyright notice on them as to when I completed the scripts, some as far back as 1999. My question is, are my teams safe from others, and the exes, from using my ideas, with out me involved, or getting credit for them, if not what do I do to avoid getting ripped off ?

Copyright them. Material is plagerized every day - sometimes here on AMHD - but a copyright gives you some legal protection.

But I have top wonder... these are Power Rangers and as such, someone else already owns the rights to them. Doesn't this make a difference?

What I understand about Power Rangers would fit in a teaspoon with room for another teaspoon of something else. Maybe OP is plagerizing someone else - or at least using someone else's product or thinking.

I don't know much about them either except from what I have seen from my nephew. It's a TV show, some movies, and lots of toys. So they are an established product already.

From the little bit I have read, my ideas for teams was copyrighted as soon as I finished them on somesort of medium (wrote them down, digital copy some sort of print) I just wanted to make sure that my ideas on the series were protected when I put them on a web page. Power Rangers is a off shoot of a Japanese TV line of shows called Sentei, and uses footage from those shows in the US version called Power Rangers. SO if any trouble were to insue, then it would be from the companey in Japan that thought of it first, right ?

I don't think so. You are using an already trademarked term. What you have basically done is create fan-fiction. If your goal is to attempt to sell your ideas to the people that continue the Power Ranger series then you would contact them privately and not make the material public.

You have to consider that even if it's an offshoot, they have the rights to use that footage. There is some company here in the states that is making big money off the shows and merchandising. I honestly doubt you could make any claim to any of this.

It's the same as people trying to make something for say Star Trek... people make drawings, they make fan stories... but they can't claim rights to any of it as it is already licensed to someone else.

I don't know, maybe someone with more legal knowledge will come along and answer this but I honestly think that you have no claim at all and are just wasting your time.

The copyrights are owned by Bandai America. So any modifications to this power ranger line, and it is extensive, made by someone else cannot be patented and/or copyrighted by anyone else.

Then that sounds like to best thing to do, now I understand why I didn't do a web page for all that I have done. Next step would be to contact the right person, so I don't get screwed on the work I have developed. Thank You for your insight.

From what I got from NeedKarma, I just need to keep it quiet till I can contact the right person for the Japanese company who developed it in the first place, and believe they will be open to hearing what I have developed. Thank You for your help.
