What causes evaporation to be an endothermic reaction?
Evaporation is an endothermic reaction. Why does it take more energy for the reaction to take place? Is it the breaking of the liquid bonds that causes it to be endothermic? Does the reassembling the bonds as a gas add to this as well, or does that give some energy back and the total makes it endothermic? Why is condensation exothermic, why exactly does it give off heat? Is there a simple answer to this?
