My sister is ten years old in a few days, and we want to get custody of her. I sadly live away from her now, because I moved away for jobs, and start a new life with my little one who is 11 months old. Me & my friend want to get custody of my sister, because she lives in a bad situation. My parents are together, and have her right now, and says they won't let me have her, but basically all my sister is to my mom is a check every month ( family allowance )... My parents live in a trailer park with a lot of drugs in it, you have to turn on the hot water/cold water taps with vice scripts ( they owe this trailer ), there is no source of heat because my father had a wood stove in the trailer and the stove got too hot and busted ( which heat can't shatter the glass ).. I think something hit it, or they shut the door too hard.. but anyway, our income is way over a normal persons income, and my friend said he would fight for custody for her with me, if I had a chance of getting her.. There is usually no food in the house, my parents fight constantly, their light bill is on the urge of being disconnected, and my sister doesn't want to live with my parents anymore.. What can I do?

Are you in the U.S.

You can report the situation to children's services and tell them you are willing to foster your sister. They will investigate and, if they find abuse going on, they should remove her from the home.

If they don't there is little more you can do.

What does that mean? A "normal person's income" can vary from nothing to very high. And I'm not at all sure that the fact that you make more than your parents really should or would enter into it.

The fact that you believe a 10 year old doesn't want to live with her parents anymore is, likewise, of no consequence.

I know she has to live there, & it's fairly high, our income is.

First offer to take her and let them keep the gov't support check.
Say it in a way that isn't snide about money, just sort of 'we can afford this, and then she can visit a lot and you will have something for extra food and gifts.'
(Wood stove glass will break if the burning wood touches the glass.)

I know it can break the glass if burning wood touches it. & I could try to tell them they can keep the family allowance, but if they would let me have her is the next thing.. :(

I see a problem with school enrollment, Physicians, if custody is not legal.

What do you mean? :/

To authorize medical care or register her for school you have to be her legal parent.
