My 17 yr old daughter has mental health issues . She has been in and out of the local mental hospital. She continues to disrespect me and steal every thing from personal clothing to money from me . I had to send my 15 yr old away to live with her grandma because my 17yr old daughter repeatedly hit her 15 yr old sister . To the point it became unsafe . I don't know what else I can do... my 17yr old just stole money from me again today and didn't seem to care it was rent money . Do I make a police report? What do I do to get her help? A very sad single mother .

I had no choice cps gave me two options send my 15 yr old with my mom a safe place or loose her completely . No one in my family will take my 17 yr old they are afraid of her :(

She is Bi polar and a violent depressant . Deemed by the state of ca . Her biological father is the same as she is .

She is medicated and sees a therapist regularly. As well as my 15 yr old to help her heal .

Does she take her medications as prescribed? Exactly as prescribed?

I give them to her daily.. they work for a little while then they stop working . Her doctor changes her medication often but it's been a continuous cycle . I did end up making a police report on my daughter yesterday.. they only took the report but made no attempt to arest her . She has zero understanding of her actions and consequences of her actions. She is my 3d daughter and the only one with these issues . My two oldest were nothing like this .

Bipolar people don't have zero understanding of their actions to my mind (in terms of right and wrong and consequences). I would ask for a new evaluation for possible schizophrenia. The two diagnoses overlap a lot, but as a child gets older, there are more behavioral clues.

When she is 18 she is an adult, and you need to help her and the professionals who help her to decide her future now.

It should be easy enough to keep cash and small valuables in a locked place. Sign up for direct deposit, pay all bills online, even arrange to pay rent by direct deposit. There is no reason for theft of cash in your house.

I'm not understanding something here - the 17 year old is violent, no one will "take her," the family is afraid of her but there was an "Order" that the OTHER child be removed from the home. Is there/has there been any type of Court action/Order involving the 17-year old? I've seen situations where the parent has had to declare the out of control child, whether it's physical/mental or behavioral issues, in need of supervision and placed in a facility.

If the child is dangerous I don't understand why nothing is being done by the Police and/or Courts.

I'm guessing from her wording that CPS didn't 'order' the present arrangement so much as she didn't want to lose either child to the system at the time.
