What if you clean the air filter regularly? Can it happen from when the rod was replaced? The oil started leaking from the turbo base right after the initial repair of the worn out rod that caused the oil to originally leak. Then there was a vibration noise for about six months that continually got worse until the bolts vibrated out of the base of the turbo. Could this coming loose have caused the bent turbines? They said coming loose is what cause the rod to come loose and become damaged.

Yes. I would guess all of that came about from inadequate lubrication. Turbos are problematic and usually die from air filters not being changed frequently enough or from inadequate lubrication. My advice would be to use a quality synthetic diesel oil; e.g. Shell Rotella Synthetic 5W-40 or Amsoil Synthetic 15W-40. If you install a bypass oil filter and do regular used oil analysis, it won't cost you any more than conventional oil and your maintenance costs should drop dramatically. Turbos and synthetic oil go together.

If your turbine blades are damaged in any way, shape or form, take the turbo out and use it as a boat anchor. That's all it will be good for. The turbo spins in excess of 50,000+ rpms and any imbalance is a big no-no.Replace the whole unit with a new one. The only thing that could have bent your rod inside is excessive heat or someone dismantling it who didn't know what he was doing.
