    Green card status
I had a green card for 8 years and recently became a US citizen. I gave up my green card when sworn in. Recently I went through a divorce after 16 years of marriage. My ex wife was here on my green card status which is set to expire in 2014. What is her current status?

You are saying that she has a "green card", right?

If she is on a "conditional" permanent resident status (i.e. valid only for two years, given if you applied for a green card for her based on a marriage that was at that time less than two years old), then she will need to do Removal of Conditions before that expiration, and she will need to get a waiver since she is divorced (a lawyer might be good in this situation), since it usually requires both spouses to do it.

If she is on a regular permanent resident status (usually they get a card with 10-year validity), then that status is permanent and she can apply for citizenship or renew the card when it expires as many times as she wants without hassle; and the divorce has no effect on that.

But really, why do you care? You are divorced, so it's not really any of your business what she does or her status, right?

She is a permanent resident. Expiration date on the card does not mean termination of her status.
