I'm going to be an au pair for a family... We've been talking for a month and even skyped once. I signed a contract written up by his lawyer. But I need to show proof of 750€ to go there legally they say. But it makes me think its not a scam because I am asked to western union money to MY name and send the recipte to the uk office. Only I could pick up the money then, so is it a scam?

If your visa is not J-1, it is 100% SCAM. To be an Au Pair in US, the employer makes all the arrangements and sends you DS2019 form, so you bring this deocument to the visa interview. You DO NOT have to show any $$ or send it to anyone.

Well I don't need a visa to go there... And it's to the UK from the US. I can stay 6 months on a passport
But his lawyer says I need the show that I have funds to support myself.
Like I said they explained that I will be western unioning the money to myself.

That says SCAM to me.

This offer is not a legitimate one. The program is for 12 months, with J-1 visa only.

You may travel there but not work, You need the visa to work.

There is no basic travel allowance, and guess what it is a scam, of course they can get the money from western union, since there will be ID information asked or they merely use fake ID like they do in the dating scams.
Next most likely the people are not really in UK, but in Africa or some tropic island where laws are a lot different.

This is a common scam, but no there is no BTA at all that is how you know it is illlegal.

They can claim the money from Western Union simply by using the information from the receipt you send them. It happens quite often really. WU is the favorite form of payment for scammers to use since they can claim it at any office using very basic information.

Yes, you need a visa.

What kind of questions will I be asked upon my arrival to uk? I live in USA and will be staying for no lomger than 6 months. If I say I'm staying with a friend will they need to prove they can support me for 6 months?
What should I expect?
