    US tax treaties for H1B
    Dear Experts,

I have been working in NY for a year under an H1B: I am thus a resident alien for taxes purposes. I am French, can I claim any deduction from the France/US tax treaty?
    Thanks for your help,

    E.

In my opinion, no, you cannot. If you are under an H-1B from 1 Jan 06 to 31 Dec 06, then you must pay taxes and claim credits/exemption just like a U.S. citizen with NO treaty exemptions.
