Okay so I was 8 weeks pregnant with a little bit of complications. Just last night I started bledding heavily and went to the ER. There they took a couple of ultrasounds and ruled it a miscarriage. They said I had passed the fetus and there for am not pregnant anymore but I still need to wait until pass the rest of the tissue. The doctor suggested I get an abortion to take out the rest of the tissue but I decided to wait until my body does it naturally. Now my question is what to do meanwhile? Should I stay in bed rest or avoid certain things? And so what are the odds of it happening soon enough for me to return to work (within a week) and also am kind of scared will this be painfull? Will I need to return to the hospital when it happens? A lot of questions sorry I just didn't get enough answers at the hospital. Thank you (:

The tissue you will be passing will look like small red pieces; more or less a heavy period, but it could happen over a period, maybe a couple of weeks at the most. I think it would have been a good idea to get rid of all of the detrius at once as doctor suggested. You may want to re-consider that.

You can carry on normal activities just wear good pads every day. It won't be painful and when you start passing these pieces, you could probably determine yourself if you could return to work sooner; unless of course it isn't a strenuous job, just sitting light walking would be okay.

I agree, the way the doctor suggested would have been best idea. Abortion is really wrong term, since there is no fetus, this is merely cleaning of tissue.

In a way it sounds like a goodnidea yo just get it over with but ck considering my conception history it kind of scares me to think that I could get tissue scaring making it even harder to conceive. Also just yesterday they told me that I have two uterus or uterus dildephys.that made me more scared. I don't want to lose any chances I may have to conceive in the future. :/

I've had a miscarriage, and had no choice. I had to have a D&C because the fetus (which had already died) wouldn't pass. I almost died.

The risk you take by not doing a D&C, is that you don't have a complete miscarriage. In other words, something is left behind, which can cause more issues.

I would have the D&C. It's not at all painful, they put you under for the procedure. That way you know everything is gone, everything has passed. What you're opting to do now is far more dangerous than a D&C. But... it's your choice.

I totally agree with you, Alty. I felt awful before my D&C, but great afterward. You don't want to become ill.

The procedure for a good cleaning (and I don't know why he called it abortion after the fetus had gone),is curetage or D&C.
