My wife had hospitalized 4-5 time due to hyperemesis gravidarum(Pregnant 8+weeks). When she admitted, she had an injection and within seconds she got allergic reaction like itching entire body and swelling on face, hand looks horribly fat. The same thing repeated in the next day morning also when she had second injection. When we talk to doctor, said that it is because of dehydrated body reaction against the medicine.

Kindly please clarify some of our worries in detail,

1. Whether the allergic reaction due to the injection will have any effects on fetus ? Or the child's health in future?

2. PRIMACORT 100mg is in pregnancy category D and EMSOLONE is in category C. As per the online information it is not safe for pregnant women. Does it cause any problem ?

Hyperemesis gravidarum is an uncommon condition whereby pregnancy brings on uncontrollable vomitting resulting in severe dehydration, and yes, this condition would be dangerous to the fetus if allowed to continue for an extended period, this is why she was hospitalized so they can control, and re-hydrate.

I don't think they would have injected knowing it would harm the baby, but the dehydration would, as I have said.

It is never a good idea to ask medical opinions on line from strangers; with that being said, I would suggest you ask these questions of her doctor, you do say it is not a trust issue.

Is her doctor specialized in pregnancy where you are located. You do know this an international site. What 'expert' are you waiting for, one here, or one where you are?

Firstly I need to know your location in the world. There are medications that have one name in one country and have other names in other countries.

Also, your wife is 8+ weeks pregnant. Sometimes the risks to the mother outweigh the benefits to the fetus.

You see, at this term gestation it is best to focus on the health of the mother in this circumstance. Sometimes we, as medical practitioners, are given a choice as to whether to prolong the life of the mother versus the life of the fetus.

While I will agree that what you describe is an allergic reaction of sorts, I really do not have enough information to go on.
