    Installing a wall oven
Hi - replacing my Moffat wall oven with a neighbours GE wall oven/convection oven.
My service has your traditional 4 copper wires - red, black, white and ground.
The Moffat had four - it was an easy match.
GE oven has FIVE - red, black, white, green and BLUE. I know what to do with all the others, got them ready in the junction box - but the schematics do not explain the blue.
I believe it is simply from the controls that turn on the fan of the convection. Usually you just attach the blue wire to a neutral point on the junction box. It is a wimpy looking wire too - can't see runnning 2000 watts on this!

Does attaching the blue wire to the box seem correct? Or should I just tape and marrette the thing? I do not want to use th convection oven option anyway - turns the meat hard.
GE HQ does not have the Installation manual archived anymore. The new GE Profile wall ovens do not have the blue wire on them, so their manuals did not help.

Let me have the model number so I can see if I can find the wiring diagram, or provide the link to it, or scan it and post it here.

Your right, the manual for this GE unit cannot be found, they don't even recognize the number. Somehow I get that I may be looking at GE in the wrong country,by the word marrette, and the fact you seem to know that blue is neutral.

Here in the US blue is never neutral, however I am aware that in the UK for example the blue is neutral. It could be a neutral for a fan or control circuit, however we need to be careful here, because the neutral in the UK and other countries is neutral for a 230 volt system.

I hesitate to advice you what to do with this wire unless I knew exactly more details. What you may do is open the unit and trace it out to see if you can determine the wire's purpose.

Well, I am in Canada - hence the spelling.

I think I better get an electrician in here!:o

    Thanks anyway...

Did you ever get an answer for the blue wire? I'm dealing with the same issue.
