2000 mecury sable cranks fine but won't start. Battery was dead for awhile. I think it might have something to do anti theft system. No sound of fuel pump when key is turned.

. Test all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter.

. Reset the inertia switch. It's likely located in the trunk, behind the right fender liner.

. Remove the fuel pump relay from the under hood fuse/relay box. Clean the contacts with abrasive cloth, coat with dielectric grease, and replace.

. Clean the main ECM ground.

If the problem persists, your suspicion may be right.
