    Job offer and reference check
I wanted to touch base and bring you up to speed about your application. I am still having a bit of a tough time contacting your references. I have spoken with two of them, but was wondering if you can provide me with one additional reference?

You really have to remain positive when job hunting.
When you reply, say 'I am so glad you are interested in my application. Here are two more references, in case one can't be reached when you try.'

For future reference, when you post a question on AMHD, you need to tell us what is going on and what you want help with. For example, "I interviewed for a job and recieved the following email from the employer. Should I view this as a positive sign that an offer is coming?" Then provide the quote of the email.

As you posted this, it appeared that you were offering all of us jobs and wanted our references, which made no sense at all.

I would question why they want another, if they had two, and both were good. Did they ask for three and you only provided two ?

Fr_Chuck, are you wondering if this is an online scam?
There are so many I can't keep up with them.

That thought occurred to me, too. OP - is this someone you've actually met with in person for interviews?

I would never provide references until I've had at least one in-person interview. And I will not give potential employers my social security number until I have interviewed in person and been given a solid job offer. If they are doing a security background check, or drug testing, reputable companies will make a conditional offer - offering the job on the condition that the background check and drug test comes out clean.
