    Boil on my face
3 days ago I tried to pop what I thought was a pimple on my chin. The following day I woke up with a large swollen mass what I assume is a boil. Its very large and on my chin and is very painful. I have been doing hot salt water compressed on it for the past two days its not ready yet to drain yet. I recently started a new job and don't have health insurance yet so my concern with reading online about boils on the face is that you should seek medical care when the boil is in that area. I would like to avoid going to the ER if possible. Im not sure really what to do. What are you thoughts on this matter?

A urgent care facility would be the best choice, over an ER. Since they are about 60 to 100 dollars and the ER will be 500 to 750, not sure why you would chose an ER.

Not all places have an urgent care center? I would have to travel about 40-50 miles to get to one.

To the OP. I've never heard of a boil on a chin needing urgent or emergent care. Now, on the upper portion of the face near the eyes, yes.

Have you tried peroxide to help dry it up and bring it to a head? Never pop it, let it pop on its own.
