    Snow removal
I' m renting in a single family house, I rented the basement. There is nothing in the lease one way or the other about snow removal, but when I asked the landlord to please remove the snow so that my wife could get out of the driveway and go to work, he refused. Is there anything in New York laws that says the landlord has to remove snow in a single family home.

The owner of a property needs to remove snow from any public sidewalks.

It should have been written into your lease who was responsible for grounds maintenance. It sounds like you are not the only tenants in the house. You don't make it clear whether the owner also lives in the house or there are other tenants. If there are other tenants, they may be responsible for clearing the snow.

If there are laws about this, it may be on the city or county level, so you should check with the local building dept.

My understanding is that snow removal is not the responsibility of the landlord, unless specified in the lease.
