What can I use for pain for eye?
Husband, 76 years, woke up yesterday conplaining of pain in right eye. It looked red and inflamed. There appeared to be some matting. We use over the counter eye drops for red eye. I noticed a small white, milky looking spot on the iris (location - 7 oclock between pupil and edge of iris. Thought it was a floater. Used a sterile ointment "night time eye lubricant" last night. It was difficult for him to sleep because of the pain. First I thought of cold in the eye... He had something similar about a week ago in the left eye... and then I thought possible pink eye. Today we rinsed it twice with boric acid - 1 teaspoon to large glass of water. He has slept off and on most of the day. Just checked it again and the white area looks a little larger and the eye is weeping. The redness is not as pronounced as yesterday but he continues to have pain.

I would take him to our family doctor or even to an ophthalmologist. It's not a good idea to mess around with sense organs, especially eyes.
