    Stanadyne faucet parts
My shower has been dripping and the drip is getting faster.

It is a single knob that you pull out to turn on the water and turn right or left for hot or cold.

I took the knob and the round face plate off and went to Lowe's, they did not have the same thing ( its 20 yrs old) so I bought what the guy said would work.

It did not. The guts of the knob do not match the piece sticking out of the wall.

Now when I take a pair of pliers and pull the thing out I get water. And when I use the pliers to push it back in there is no drip.

It seems to me that the knob original to the faucet was not pushing the thing all the way back far enough to turn the water completely off. ( broke the knob getting it off)

So, I took the knob off the bathroom sink and put it on the shower with the center screw sticking out. So now when I take a shower, I have to push the knob in to turn off the water but you also have to push the screw in with your thumb. If I tighten the screw all the way down it leaks again.

What can I do. The name on the face plate says standyne. Thank you for your help joan

Stanadyne was bought by Moan many years ago. The reason for the leak is in the cartridge, not the handle. Moen guarantees their faucets for life. Call 1 800 BUY MOEN (1-800-289-6636).

A couple different models of cartridges. You can describe faucet to Moen tech or you can remove your cartridge to determine which style you have.

To do that, remove handle. Pull off the chrome cover surrounding the stem, remove the little horse shoe clip that holds the cartridge in. Pull the cartridge out. If cartridge is difficult to remove, reattach the handle and use it to pull the cartridge out.
