I'm using my friends car that she bought after Sandy. My car was also flooded and towed away, her car too so she bought a 2013 Hyundai. I noticed that the back window fogs up often and I have to use the rare window defroster.
Also, she says the smelll is one of a new car, but not to me. I check ed for the usual signs in every nick and crannie and didn't find a problem.
Of course their windshield wiper on the passenger side was built to close to the center and so l/4 of the window stays dirty.
Could she have been sold a flooded car? Any way to know for sure?

If she bought it from a Hyundai dealer I would doubt it. From an unauthorized dealer or private party, could be. Pull the trunk mats and look under there.

Thank you for getting back to me. Yes, the car came from a dealer... a new car dealership. I ask also because I have to buy a car too. Wish I could buy a used car, it would cost less, but now I don't trust any used car.

The thing is, if the new car was on the lot during "Sandy" it's very possible that it got flooded. New car just means that it's never been owned by anyone, it's brand new, it has low miles. That doesn't mean that it was exempt from flooding during the storm.

But, if it was flooded, the dealership would have been legally bound to disclose that. Your friend still could purchase the car, for a lower price, but she'd have to be made aware that it was flooded.

The problem is proving that it was. If it was.

No but their new cars were on lots in New Jersey and they were flooded.

It's counterintuitive, but ensure the air conditioner is running at the same time the heater is on. This dehumidifies the air and prevents fogging.
