My fan has same wire colors but mine fan is a plug-in. Is the wiering the same? Is it too old?

How could we possibly know if it is too old or if the wiring is the same??

Frank, sounds like you are trying to piggyback on an old psot but we can't see that old post. Tell us more about your issue. Is this a box fan or what?

No it is a ceiling fan. Trying to replace an E70469 fan switch with another 5-8 wire switch. I followed same color patterns but have no results. I may be wrong but I took photos and might have missed one but looked at a ceiling wired, mounted fan and it had same pattern. The only difference is I have a chin cord that plugs into the wall outlet. Getting frustrated.
