I just found out I was pregnant maybe 4 days ago -- and I got a letter in the mail yesterday saying that I was positive for chlamydia... My doctor also sent me a prescription in the mail for it saying that I should take it immediately *Azithromycin*. So, I went to get them and I took the four pills. Maybe 15-20 minutes later I start having really bad pains and I start throwing up. Was it safe to take the medicine? Is my baby OK??

You took the four pills all at once, all at the same time?

What was the dosage, and what were the instructions on the bottle?

Yes that's the way my doctor told me to take them

It says take 4 tablets (1000 mg) by mouth at one time for one dose

Are you sure that is what he said? Usually they are taken once a day. Please call him about this.

You take that drug with food if it causes upset stomach. All antibiotics give me an upset stomach.

I looked up the side effects, and belly pain and vomiting are the first 2 listed. Eat small nibble meals all day while taking it.

You've taken all the pills now, or are there some left?

Yeah I took them on an empty stomach because it says I could . And it was only 4 pills in the bottle.

Are you supposed to go back to the doctor for a recheck?

Did the doctor know you are pregnant? I'd call him.

Yes they were the ones who told me I was pregnant -- I might just go back tomorrow so I can know if everything all right for sure..
