Leaking shut off valve under sink
I recently replaced the hand held sprayer on my kitchen sink. When I tried to turn off the valve under the sink, it was stuck so I used a wrench (on the handle) and forced it to turn. When I turned the water back on, the valve started to drip.

Can I try to stop the drip by tightening the packing nut, or am I in danger of this valve failing if I mess with it any more?

    Hi NJ

Take one pair of pliers and hold the body of the valve and then take another pair of pliers and tighten the packing nut being sure to offset the torque from the second pair of pliers with the first pair, OK?

Tighten 1/8th turn or so to start... shouldn't take much effort!
