Can the police interview my daughter who has a statement of special needs and is classed as a vunerable adult without me being there?
Depends on her age and exact needs.
While she may not need an actual parent to be present, a designated adult would likely fit the bill.
Really depends on your location and the matter in hand.
Why would they be interviewing her?
As the same with minor children, yes the police do interview them without the parents, esp if the issue could be the parents or if they feel the parents are causing the child not to tell the truth.
Different areas have rules s to having a child advocate present, or having social services present.
I would assume that since she has lesser skills, you have went to court and have guardianship ? If you don't have legal guardianship, thought he court proving she is in need, then legally she is just another adult.
Hello debbie:
Nobody is required to talk to the cops. NOBODY.. Tell them that, or hire a lawyer who will.
