I am looking at the technical documentation of a Prestolite starter motor. The starter is described as 24V/7.5 kW/2-pole. I believe the max power requirement is 2000A (cold cranking amps I presume) and the power requirement at firing speed is 630A. What does the 7.5 kW represent? What does the power requirement at firing speed mean, and why is there such a large difference with the max power requirement? Should starter cables be sized to the max or firing speed? Thanks.
