I am 14 years young and I still haven't gotten my period. I know that some people start late but I, worried because my friend went to the doctor because she hasn't gotten it yet either and apparently she has a disease that won't let her get her period and could make her die younger than she would with her period. I'm a little scared but don't want to talk to my parents about it... Should I get a gynecologist ? I just don't know what is going on

Wouldn't you have to tell your parents so their health insurance will cover you (if you are in the U.S.)? Or could you find and go to a gynecologist without their knowing?

Yes, a doctor might be a good thing about now, even just to relieve your mind -- your family doctor should be able to determine what is going on, if anything is.

Um, ask her? "Hey, Mom. I haven't gotten my period yet, and I'll be old and in a nursing home before we know it. I think I should see a doctor, and maybe even a gynecologist. What do you think?"
