I live in a downstairs condo(it's about 22 years old) with an upstairs occupant. It leaks through my downstairs ventilator when they shower. It is only a couple of drops than it stopped. How much will it cost to fix it? Will it get worst overtime? Thanks in adavance

As I read your post, you live in a condo apartment and there is another apartment above you. Also that when the shower of the apartment above you is used, you get water out of a hearing vent.

Have no idea, all depends on why and where the shower is leaking and how much damage has already been done.

Cost should not be your concern. Responsibility for repairs and damage belong to the occupant of the apartment above. The longer the situation continues the more damage will occur. Do the upstairs occupant a favor and advise them of the situation as soon as possible.

I got the impression that smakelijk owns the condo and why he asked how much, or is asking for the owner. I also bet his upstairs occupant is aware of the leak.

It's impossible to know how much it'l cost to fix, you didn't even say where you are. We have no idea how the shower is built, how long ago and where the leak is.

The only thing I can add at this time is that if it's only the pan, it might be repairable (patched up) for $1,500 - 2,000.) Less if you're in a rural town, more if you live on the 50th floor of a NYC penthouse.

Usually it's best to redo the entire thing because it's obviously not built right in the first place and it may be time to update anyway.
